San Jose State University Judo05/03/05 - Dean's Awards Presented The SJSU College of Applied Sciences and Arts held an awards reception titled the "Salute to the Stars" last evening, honoring distinguished students, staff, alumni, and community leaders. Two members of the SJSU Judo Team were recognized at yesterday's ceremony. The first was head coach Yoshihiro Uchida, who was awarded the prestigious Dean's Community Award. The Dean's Community Award is "presented annually to an individual who is a community leader and who is a visionary activist. The honoree has a distinct understanding of the values that represent the College of Applied Sciences and Arts and has demonstrated active support through philanthropy and leadership to respond to the College's vision as a home to professional disciplines serving dynamic societal needs and dedicated to promoting a healthy, ethical, and enlightened global community through innovative application of knowledge and scholarship." Also recognized at the ceremony was sophomore and Judo team member Davor Vasiljevic. Davor has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his college career, and represented San Jose State at this year's Collegiate Nationals. He was recognized by the Department of Kinesiology for his "outstanding scholarship and service." Congratulations to you both!
